As the Bomber Command Memorial was unveiled in London this summer to remember those brave young men who lost their lives, I am proud the RAF Benevolent Fund has continued the RAF’s tradition of looking after its own. We have been able to support our veterans and those who survived such extremely tough operational campaigns.
No matter what an individual’s background, we have been and are there for everyone who is a member of the RAF family – all 2.4 million of us. Last year we helped over 60,000 individuals who had met tragedy or difficult times and were unable to cope on their own. Much of what the RAFBF is able to do for ex-RAF and serving people comes from the gifts people leave us in their Will.
In fact, some 70% of our donations are from gifts in Wills. And we do not receive any government or MOD funding. Our difficult reality is a great deal of our help simply wouldn’t be possible without these gifts in Wills.
So as I retire from the RAFBF, I would like to offer your members the opportunity to consider leaving a gift in their Will to us.
Would you please include the attached advertisement, featuring former Bomber Command Sgt. Dennis Wiltshire, in your next communication to your Squadron Association members?
I have included the advertisement as colour and black-and-white versions knowing you may well photocopy it for your members. If you have any other questions, our Gifts in Wills Manager, Mano Chandy, would be delighted to help – please don’t hesitate to call him on 0207 307 3444. Those who do respond will then be contacted by one of our Regional Directors.
I really appreciate your Association’s continued support of the RAFBF and thank you for your help with this initiative.
Yours sincerely
