It is with deep regret that I have to report the Death of ‘Mac’ McCaig. He flew with the Squadron during the Italian and Balkan campaigns. Mac was also the association secretary for many years and attended all our reunions at North Weald until just recently.
He will be missed.
Our Condolences and sympathy go out to his Daughter, family and friends.
Rest in Peace Mac
Mac’s Funeral will take place at The Church of the Immaculate Conception, Sandhurst, on Friday 18th December at 13.30hrs.

Sad news indeed, RIP Mac, I served with Mac on 249 in Italy and Yugoslavia during ww2. We have corresponded since then, but not for the last 10 years or so. Frank Authers

A wonderful gentleman and friend who was so instrumental in assisting me with the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Britain in 1990…..Nothing was too much trouble and he had a wonderful sense of humour…..rest in peace Mac and blue skies on your journey…..my sincere and deepest condolences to Mac’s family and the loss of a very valued and respected member of the Squadron and the Association…..

As a Welfare Officer with the Royal Air Force Association I visited Mac on many occasions at home, in hospital and later in the care home where he passed away. I was proud to have provided support and assistance during the last year of his life. I always enjoyed visiting him and he told me many stories of his exploits, a truly amazing individual who will be sadly missed.
